Willoughby-money-shot.jpg

WILLOUGHBY

Willoughby uses integrative bodywork as an invitation for the body to be coaxed toward a more optimal state of existence.

Myofascial release and nerve and artery mobilization techniques release patterns of tension within our bodies. These techniques focus on fascia, the connective tissue matrix that envelops all the structures of the body, including muscles, ligaments, tendons, nerves, and arteries; opening neurological connections between the brain, the spinal cord, and the musculoskeletal system.

Using firm, gentle, and receptive pressure, his focus is less on individual muscles than on liberating the space between them, as well as between our muscles and the other structures within us. Such an emphasis improves the functioning of connective tissue, which at its best works in a fluid, gliding manner, allowing all parts of our body to work in concert with one another.

"I love to laugh and learn. I'm a storyteller and a friend."

Chris grew up in Hawaii on a foundation of the Aloha Spirit. The understanding that we must work together and support each other in a positive way. Chris first stepped on a slackline in 2009 while traveling in Portugal. After seeing a transformation in himself Chris understood the power of calming the mind through active meditation and playfulness. He has a keen ability to teach in a fun and simple way that people of all ages can enjoy. Besides Slackline practice Chris enjoys Partner Arobatics, Acro Therapuetics and surfing. Chris loves to be silly and feels a deep sense of gratitude to be able to share the foundational techniques of slacklining and enjoying life which he learned from great teachers.

What is Slackline?

Slacklining and more specifically Slackline Yoga is a practice where we learn to control our balance and our minds while in unsteady circumstances. It is a a powerful tool to practice finding our center and also our playfulness.

A slackline is a piece of webbing supported on either end that can move from side to side. Similar to a tightrope in that it is a small surface to find balance on but different in that it is not taut and fixed. This encourages our bodies to find a centered engagement and balance.

We will learn multiple ways of connecting and playing on the line including sitting, standing, kneeling and arm balances. No experience is necessary as the teaching style is fun and approachable for everyone.

For those with experience we will help you find the beginner's mindset and bring you back to a challenging practice with variations and added levels of control.

Join the fun and find trust in yourself. Push your boundaries in a safe way for maximum growth.
